Feature events this afternoon and evening include Junior Beef Judging and a Heifer Show and at 7 pm the Ray White Rural Dorrigo Show Rodeo
Saturday, the show’s main day, will focus on dairy, beef and horse sections from studs and competitors across the North Coast, New England and beyond.
A special attraction this year will be Horticulture Alley, where the Dorrigo Show Society will strongly promote many aspects of the horticultural industry on the Plateau.
Woven through the day will be regular features: sideshow alley, a full program of woodchops, including tree felling and a children’s treasure hunt.
Equestrian Mikalya Jade will be in the main ring on Saturday with trick riding on her horses.
Other features on Saturday will be bush dog trials, a whip cracking competition and an all age farmers’ challenge pitting teams of four against each other in a series of tasks replicating everyday farm activities.
One aspect of Saturday’s entertainment will be unique to Dorrigo: at 2.15 pm there will be an auction of agricultural lime donated by Sibelco and BGA and freight donated by Sheridan’s Hard Rock Quarry. The best bid takes home a truck load.
The day will end with fireworks.
Society President, Sally Duckett, says delicious meals will be available during the day and evening and a bar will run for most of the day.
“Sunday’s features include a ute challenge and static display with lots of great prizes up for grabs,” Mrs Duckett said.
“There is also a commercial cattle competition, stock horse challenge and Tug o War along with great entertainment for the kids from Troppo Bob and the Reptile World, The Sand Wizard and much more.
“Entry over the two days and nights and Friday evening will be free to anyone who purchases a membership ticket.”
Membership prices are:
Two day family membership, just $40
