Raleigh soil for Armistice artwork
Earlier this month, Raleigh Public School held a special ceremony to collect a soil sample from its grounds.
It will become a part of an artwork by artist Fiona Hall at Sydney’s ANZAC Memorial marking 100 years since the end of WW1.
The artist proposed that a plaque commemorate each location in NSW that enlistees gave as their place of address.
Raleigh’s soil sample will be displayed alongside the place names of close to 1700 others. The students of Raleigh Public were honoured to be a part of this special memorial Centenary Project.
