Nine world premieres, internationally acclaimed composers playing their own compositions and the promise of an Elena Kats-Chernin piece for the Bellingen Youth Orchestra to premiere in 2020 … in short the 2017 Bellingen Fine Music Festival was a triumph.

With eight years of strings to its bow, the festival has come of age with a program rich in musical talent, professional performers, a vibrant fringe festival and the crowds to enjoy it.

Three of the five concerts were full with the others well attended.

Festival Chair, Rosie Wickert, said the festival had drawn audiences from Brisbane, Newcastle and beyond and everyone was generous in their positive feedback about the lovely atmosphere around town and the calibre of the music.

“We had our biggest audiences and everything went really smoothly,” Rosie said.

“The professionalism is a credit to our volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who made it a success, and thank you Bellingen!”
