Urunga's wonderful news is that last Thursday and Friday Urunga's team of Kath McPhail, Sylvia Mitchell, Colleen Katen and Isabel Pettit (pictured) representing the Mid North Coast District are the inter district fours champions. They won their match against Clarence River 6/2, drew 4 all against Northern Rivers and won 6/2 against Tweed Byron. This is a huge win and our congratulations go to Kath, Sylvia, Colleen and Isabel. Your bowling buddies at Urunga and in the Mid North Coast are all so proud of you.
Well done Brenda Fane, Shirley Willis and Isabel Pettit on their second placing at Sawtell, missing out on first place on margins. Although they didn't come home with any trophies Helen Fisher, Jo Bathgate, Lynne Tarrant, Ros Hancock and Lorraine Carlon put in a good effort at Port Macquarie and gained valuable experience on a foreign green.
A final reminder that our gala day is on next Tuesday, October 3 – the festivities starting with morning tea at 8.45am. If your name is not already down please enter it on the sheet by September 28 as numbers are required for catering purposes. Please bring in items for the trading table by this date and donations of cakes and slices on the day will be appreciated.
One match was played in the minor pairs last week when Margaret Baldwin and Janette Banks defeated Ros Hancock and Lorraine Carlon. Rink winners Gloria Christian, Jenny Thornton; Helen Hoffman, Chris Buntine. Raffles Jan Grogan, Robin Pettit, Helen Hoffman.
Nominations for the popular Consistency competition close Thursday October 5 and start Thursday October 12.
Urunga bowlers extend their sincere sympathy to Bronwyn Matthes and Chris Buntine on their recent bereavements.
