Eleven happy, chatty ladies attended on September 13 for the monthly meeting. President Betty Cornwell was unable to attend, thus Irene Alga presided as Vice President. Betty will not be lining up for President next year. Best wishes from all of your CWA friends. Come along whenever you feel up to it. Someone will go fetch and return you home safely.

Next month, Environmental Officer, Rhonda, has organised a different type of show and tell for all CWA Members – general, handicraft, quilters. Those who wish are invited to meet at the Wetlands, or if preferable, the CWA Rooms to drive others down to the Wetlands. Cars will be available whichever option you take. Wetlands meeting time is 9am. Those not wishing to walk around the Wetlands, meet at the CWA Rooms for 10am. I believe a couple are going to stay at the rooms and have a chat over a cuppa until the others return.
The AGM will follow with the election of office bearers for the oncoming year. Please let Margaret know if you are interested in a position. Patron, President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Culture, Environment/Agriculture, Publicity, Welfare are all open.
To complete the day and recover from the AGM elections, members will bring their own picnic and enjoy the water views in the park opposite the hotel.
Daph’s culture verse was read out – now we know how Daph survives the many ups and downs in her life – God Is Always Near, For no matter what might happen, I will never be alone. Thanks Daph.
Birthday wishes to Laraine Bojarski (5th). It would have been Cecelia Rowe’s birthday. Many fond memories were mentioned eg – such a nice lady, she knitted the bears, one of which still hangs on the wall display.
It was exciting at Handicrafts last Friday as Shirley Patterson paid a visit. Shirley keeps in touch with members from her new abode in Grenfell. Some Material Aid Beanies are ready for sending to CWA headquarters when they have moved their current stock on. Urunga won a third prize in this year’s Group Handicraft Competition – looks more like a first to me! Rhonda brought along her bear and cushions.
Members thought about suitable countries that could be considered for the Year of Study 2019. The country must have an embassy in Australia. Urunga will be forwarding Ethiopia.
Anyone who does knitting or crocheting and would like to assist CWA, we are currently making red poppies for Remembrance Day 2018. One hundred years since the end of WW1. Believe they are going to the Canberra War Memorial. Contact the Handicraft ladies on a Friday morning, or ring Margaret Grice Little for the pattern and wool colour.
Please ensure you have the 22nd November, 9.30am in your diary, and on the fridge, for the group meeting to be held in the Urunga Uniting Hall. Urunga will be catering.
