Ryde Aquatic and Leisure Centre was the venue for the 2017 NSW surf life saving pool rescue championships which were held during the weekend of July 8 and 9.
In attendance were 340 of the state's best swimmers participating in a variety of rescue activities in age divisions ranging from under 12's to over 60's.
Competing in the 60 yrs + division was Fernmount's Peter Allison who came away from the carnival with five medals from the five events he contested.
Peter won bronze in the 100m obstacle race and the 50m manikin carry. He won silver medals in the 100m manikin tow [with fins] in a 'best ever' PB time and the 100m manikin carry [with fins]. With his South Maroubra team mate, Peter won gold in the line throw relay [an event the pair also won last year] in a new state record time of 22.25 secs.
The pair are heading for Adelaide next month to contest the Australian titles at the site of Rescue 2018 - next year's World Life Saving Championships.
