Call in at the station at the corner of Darkwood Rd and Waterfall Way to meet your local firefighters and find out more about fire safety and preparation.
This free community event will include:
› Sausage Sizzle
› Kids Activities
› Fire Safety Information
› Equipment Demonstration
While the primary purpose of the Open Day is not recruitment, Superintendent Sean McArdle urges locals to help make a difference in their community by becoming a NSW RFS volunteer.
"The ranks of the NSW RFS are made up of men and women from all cultural backgrounds and professions, making each brigade a reflection of the local community it serves," Supt McArdle said.
"Currently the number of volunteers in Thora Brigade are low, so if you would like to know more about the brigade and get hands on with some of the equipment the Open Day would be a great opportunity to do that."
For further information on volunteering with the NSW RFS visit the NSW RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au or phone the Coffs Harbour Fire Control Centre on 6651 6133.
