Bernard Kelly-Edwards a local custodian of the Gumbayngirr tribe came to Burdett Park and provided a wonderful and emotional speech to celebrate the Indigenous round, this was even better as we were playing Kempsey whom have a large Indigenous following, the ceremony was in a tight circle in the goal square and reflected on the surrounding area and particularly that Bellingen was the only place in the 1930s that Aboriginal women come come and give birth.
Under 11s
The under 11s were a joy to watch in their game against Northern Beaches. Although our Bulldogs were beaten, they showed great skills, teamwork and determination, and for large portions of the game looked like the better side.
The scoreboard didn't reflect how well they played, or how much they've improved since the start of the season. Jesse Case and Sunny Perrot provided pack-busting drive forward and brick wall defence, Jai Bowd once again showcased his skill and ability to read the game, while Jarrah Whitmore and Brynn Turner won plenty of the ball through grit, graft and legs that never stop running. Well done to all the Doggies!
Under 13s
The under thirteens had a mammoth task today when they took on the ladder leaders Macleay Valley Eagles in wet and slippery conditions. The younger Bulldogs side gave there all lead by Jo Jo Kornhouser and Demi Bowd. Although they lost the game they did win the last quarter and never gave up.
Under 15s
A sluggish start by Bello, and Kempsey the complete opposite, full of run and attitude. It really took until the third quarter for Bello to start playing and they really started going then with goal after goal coming but was a little too late.
Some amazing tackling, really created some great opportunities and if this attitude was brought in the first quarter I am sure the result would have been different.
