On behalf of Helen, Ben, Josh, Jordy, Eli and the extended family, they have asked me to let everyone know, that their beloved Trevor has passed away in the ICU Ward at the Coffs Base Hospital.
The family has been overwhelmed by the love and support that has come to them in so many different ways.
As you can imagine, it has been, and still is, a very difficult time for all of them, and they ask you to please give them some time and space to deal with all that has taken place.
They have asked if you could please refrain from calling at this time. They love and appreciate you all, but just need some time alone, and as a family, to process all that has taken place.
If you do happen to see them, they will gladly accept cuddles, not questions, as things are still very raw for them.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Please refrain from passing on or posting speculation or unsubstantiated facts about this tragedy.
Also, you can continue to help support the family financially through the My Cause link here.
This is all for now.
Again, thank you.
Earlier this week
Bellingen’s Trevor Tree is a wonderful man from a wonderful family, who is fighting for his life.
On Saturday morning (April 29), Trev suffered a traumatic brain injury while surfing at Valla Beach. His son, Jordan was on site and helped to save his dad, before Trev was taken to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Trev is now on life support, and his family and friends are praying for a positive outcome.
As is the local community – and together we can do something else to help the Tree family – they need our financial support.
There are many words you can use to describe Trev, but the one big one which jumps out is generosity. So this is an opportunity for us to help out and give back to this good sterling man and his lovely family.
Trev’s good mate and surfing pal Tynon, summed up how many in the community have experienced Trev’s generosity and friendship.
"I met him when he fixed our washing machine 22+ years ago,” Tynon said.
“He’s offered to fix my car, my surfboard, my phone system, my internet, let alone my computer so many times. Having to argue with him to charge was not uncommon.
“How many jobs does he do where he spends more time than he charges?
“How often has he taken on more work than he can do, because he so wants to serve and support, because he so loves life and people.
“A man of boundless love, enthusiasm, creativity, cleverness and giving, we can’t help but realise this is payback time, a time to be there for him.”
In acknowledging Trev and in the spirit of sending love his way, one has to also note what beautiful a family Trev and Helen have created. Children – Ben, Josh, Jordy and Eli are a credit to them, as well as, their extended family and friendship circle surrounding.
The accident will place Trev’s wonderful family under financial stress from loss of income and related expenses. So please, dig deep and give generously.
To Trev and his family – the community is sending our love and healing to you and we pray that you can line up in the waves again soon.
To Helen and the fellas – we send you strength, care and boundless love. The community is by your side and will do everything we can to help you through this terribly difficult time.
