The Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey, has announced that the Bellinger River RSL Sub-Branch has been awarded funding to help commemorate the service and sacrifice of War veterans.
Mrs Pavey said the Anzac Community Grants Program is an appropriate way to support organisations across NSW which are delivering projects in honour of our veterans.
“The Bellinger River RSL Sub-Branch’s commemorative activities will mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Beersheba, and the 10th anniversary of the death of SGT Matthew Locke MG.”
“I congratulate the Sub-Branch for making the application for a $500 grant, and I am sure the community will join with me in welcoming its success,” she said.
Minister for Veterans Affairs, David Elliott, said a total of $50,000 will be delivered to community groups across NSW as part of the 2016/17 Anzac Community Grants Program.
Forty-nine grants have been given to schools, community groups, museums, historical societies and other local associations.
“These grants valued at anywhere from a couple of hundred dollars to $2000 and can be put to good use for valuable community projects.”
“It is timely to receive an Anzac grant as we continue to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac and a century of service across the state,” he said.
