The first game against Toormina High was closely fought with Toormina dominating the first quarter. Thanks to strong defence by Willow Berry and Sophie Keough, we soon narrowed their lead.
Goal attack, Maia Berry, and goal shooter, Alex McNeil, worked well together to dominate the scoring resulting in a confident 25 – 20 win for Bellingen.
Bellingen lead all the way in our second match against Dorrigo. Youngster Jessica Sanders 13, found her confidence and demonstrated excellent skills in the goal shooter position while Katie Thorn as goal keeper kept the opposition off the scoreboard for most of the game. Mia White played an important role in wing defence in her return to netball after injury. Final score Bellingen 28, Dorrigo 3.
The final game against an experienced Coffs Harbour Senior College team was a tough one. Year 9’s Jasmine Jessop demonstrated amazing skills and determination to ‘get that ball’.
Zali Rees was quick on her feet and able to challenge the opposition well, not bad for a soccer player. Thank you to Sissiel Tuhi and Eliza Long for giving up their lunch times to coach the girls. Well done to Maia Berry who was selected for the MNC team, an outstanding achievement.
