The Greens 7 Point Plan for Bellingen Shire includes a commitment to 100% Renewable Energy by 2030.
A key priority for Mayoral Candidate Cr Dominic King is leading a Council that supports employment growth and jobs that bring value to the Shire.
“We want jobs that are win-win for the community, small business and the environment, and investment in renewable energy, local food and the right kind of tourism offer just that”, said Cr King.
“There is great potential for our community, Councillors and Council to work together on this pressing issue, to ensure that people have more opportunities for work while promoting the Bellingen Shire as a leader of climate action solutions and sustainability initiatives.
Cr King has served the community on the current council for four years as a Greens Representative.
The Greens 7 Point Plan for Bellingen Shire 7- includes a commitment to Inclusive Communities.
Jennie Fenton, who serves on Council’s Community Wellbeing Committee for the past four years said “we have chosen this site to launch the Greens local government campaign because the Community has suggested that they want the future use of the Information Centre and surrounds to be a youth centre and youth precinct for the youth of Urunga.
“The Greens Local Government Team will work to help make that happen if elected to Council on the 10th of September.
“Over the last few months we have talked to hundreds of Urunga residents and the message is clear about the need to offer greater support to our young people. A youth centre would be a great addition to sea lido replacement with a tidal pool and the planned multi-sports centre.”
