Well for those who have been or are currently recipients of the Godolphin Flying Start scholarship program it is truly an incredible experience and learning opportunity. In Australia Godolphin operate the Darley stud.
Visiting Darley’s Kelvinside property near Aberdeen for the annual stallion pararde 2016 graduate Bryce Bevan said it was an amazing program.
“I worked in the UK, Ireland, USA , Dubai and Australia and thanks in part to what I learnt next week I start work at Inglis Bloodstock as a sales consultant.” he said.
Originally from Albany, Western Australia Bryce had helped his family with their standard bred horses and their involvement in the trotting industry.
He completed an agricultural science and a commerce degree that included doing an honours thesis on what determines the market price for yearlings.
Joining him at Darley was a current scholarship recipient Kentucky born and raised Conrad Bandoroff.
His family’s Denali stud runs 135 broodmares in addition handling 300 horses on sale consignment.
“It was a lifetime ambition for me to receive this scholarship and half way through its been fantastic,” he said.
Conrad hopes to one day take-over the management of his family’s farm.
The program for aspiring young professionals in racing involves a two-year course is a scholarship offered to all nationalities worldwide, from a variety of backgrounds. The common thread is a passion for racing and a love of the horse.
The Godolphin Flying Start, which commenced in 2003, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai, who wanted to encourage young people to study all aspects of the racing and breeding industries, learning from the professionals he employs in his stables and studs worldwide.
