A great round of strong football for the Bellingen teams again this weekend, it seems the teams are finding their feet as the season gathers pace. All teams are well placed in their divisions and with another weekend of high scoring games, these kids are showing just how hungry they are for the back of the net, and how determined they are not to let any goals past them. Here’s a fantastic example of the skill shown in Bellingen over the weekend:

14 Girls
The Bellingen 14 Girls Bats hosted the Northern Storm in what turned out to be an excellent 5-0 victory for the home team. The game started with some excellent attacking play down both flanks with the wide midfielders and forwards combining well to set up a number of good chances. The building pressure was too much for the Storm and Abi Hardinge banged home the first goal. The Storm presented some strong opposition for the next ten minutes but Arkie Daro had a big impact off the bench, scoring two consecutive goals from loose balls in the box. Another good Mia Craggs strike from well outside the box proved too much for the Storm keeper and Bellingen went to the half time break 4 goals in front.
The Storm found their feet in the second half and their skill and hunger was only matched by Bellingen’s goal keeper Lucy Alkemade. Lucy refused to let anything near the goals and was given the Player’s Player award for her efforts. Towards the end of the match Bellingen’s attacking play again baffled the storm defence and some excellent team play led to a great goal from Paloma Birch, putting the game completely out of reach for the visitors. The 14 girls are improving in leaps and bounds every week, training hard and putting everything into their games. They are oozing team spirit and clearly enjoying their football. Stay tuned, they will be a force to be reckoned with come finals time.
