“Greens members and supporters will want to attend this dinner to hear these three excellent speakers,” said Carol Vernon. Everyone who is interested is very welcome.
The attendance of the Greens’ top three senate candidates for New South Wales is an indication of the value the Greens have for regional NSW and their concern at the neglect of constituents and social injustices that exist in the ‘safe’ seat of Cowper, an electorate with one of the lowest mean household incomes in Australia.
“Lee Rhiannon spent over a decade as a Greens MP in the NSW Parliament and has been the Senator for New South Wales since 2010.
“In that time, Lee pursued reform in a variety of key areas. Lee remains a passionate advocate for higher education and is greatly concerned at the decimation of TAFE in regional NSW and the pressures being placed on higher education students by the conversion of grants to loans. She continues to fight for transparent democracy and campaigns to remove the corrupting influence of donations to political parties.
“Michael Osborne is a strong campaigner for jobs in regional areas especially in the renewable energy industries and is currently a Councillor on Newcastle City Council.
“Jane Oakley is a partner in a family run small business, campaigns tirelessly for accountability and transparency in government, ecological and sustainable development that works with, not against the community and public transport that is efficient and reliable.
“In the coming election we have the opportunity to ensure the Senate remains strong against the corruption now permeating Australian politics,” said Carol Vernon.
Senator Rhiannon will also visit Coffs Harbour on May 12 and the three senator candidates will also visit Nambucca Heads on May 13 before Lee Rhiannon continues alone to Kempsey and Coffs Harbour.
