The evening was a huge success, ably compared by the school captain Dylan Connors, who kept us all entertained with his wit and natural showmanship. Hundreds of students and their families got frocked up to be in with a chance of winning the best dressed prize, they looked glorious. It was, as always, hotly contested and the winners were – Eden Buckingham, Billie Roberts, Meg Galloway and Hugo Couper.
The film winners were: Tom Ruming, Best Minute Me, a category in which the students capture the essence of themselves in 60 seconds; Blaise Borrer won the best documentary/mockumentary with his very funny school mafia spoof “We rule the school”.
The Best Music video went to “Raining Men”, a great team effort by Tom Ruming, Callum Graydon, Brett Weedon, Jack Sharkey and Maddie Cross – this movie also took out the hotly contested People’s Choice, voted for on the night, it just beat Caila Gribben’s wonderful documentary “The Soup That Will End the World”.
The award for best Short Film went to Blaise Borrer, for his brilliantly executed “Greed” a very dramatic and suspenseful thriller, beautifully shot by Willow Driver. Blaise also took out the award for Young Film Maker of the Year, for the second year running,
Thanks to everyone who attended, helped out on the night and especially to all the talented students who produced some first class movies.
