ITS name is Terex and that’s just what it looks like ... a giant blue T-Rex dinosaur raising and lowering its head as it lifts girders into place for the Nambucca Heads to Urunga Pacific Highway upgrade.

Recently seen arching above the new Valla Rd underpass, a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson told the Guardian the big blue crane was used to safely install 11 bridge girders over Valla Rd.
“The crane will move to a number of locations on the project as girders are ready to be installed for different structures,” she said.
Other significant milestones on the new stretch of highway include: the start of concrete paving at Ballards Rd, the opening of local roads between Boggy and Cow Creeks and between Burkes Ln and East West Rd as well as the new Short Cut Rd overbridge.
“Building work is taking place on all 37 bridges across the project and in the next couple of weeks, weather permitting, northbound traffic will be moved onto new lanes at the Ballards Road interchange.
“Pacific Highway traffic will also be moved to a temporary road to the east of the existing highway near the Waterfall Way interchange to allow work to progress.”
Notifications of upcoming work will be made available to the community before work is carried out.
The project is on track to open in the second half of 2016.
