The Bellingen RSL Sub Branch and the Dorrigo RSL Sub Branch will receive grants to assist with the Anzac Centenary.
The Bellingen Sub Branch will receive $5382 to conduct various Centenary of ANZAC commemorative services and mobile displays of replica World War 1 equipment and memorabilia will be available. The Dorrigo Sub Branch Purchase will receive $2832 for a display cabinet of WW1 memorabilia to be displayed at the Dorrigo Memorial RSL sub branch club plus and the re-enactment of a WW1 recruiting march.
Mr Hartsuyker said the 2015 Anzac Centenary would be an important year in our nation’s history.
“The Anzac legacy helped define the Australian character and the Centenary of Anzac will mark a Century of Service, encompassing all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations in which Australians have been involved,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“This will be the most significant period of commemoration in our nation’s history and the Abbott Government is committed to providing opportunities for all Australians to participate.
“The organisations which have received these grants work hard to commemorate the Anzac legacy and I thank them for their ongoing commitment.”
Mr Hartsuyker said grants had been awarded to organisations from the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program.
“The Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program supports the community through funding for projects that preserve the stories of local servicemen and women for generations to come,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“The Government is committed to ensuring the Centenary of Anzac is community-focussed, enabling all Australians no matter where they live to reflect, remember and commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australians who have served their nation.”
Mr Hartsuyker said anyone who required further information about the Anzac Centenary should contact his electorate office on 6652-6233.
