Rescue 2014 is an event designed to showcase both fresh and surf life saving rescue skills and attracts around 5,000 competitors from more than 50 nations.
Peter’s best result was in the pool at Montpellier where he won the bronze medal in the 60+ years line and throw rescue event with his Australian counterpart South Maroubra’s Phil Dutton. This was the first time the pair had contested the event which relies upon speed, accuracy and coordination between rescuer and patient.
In the 50m manikin carry and the 100m manikin carry with fins, both pool rescue events, Peter recorded the sixth fastest time in each final.
On the beach, at La Grande Motte, Peter finished fifth in the beach sprint, beach flags and beach relay and a creditable seventh in a big field of competitors in the surf race.
In all, Peter competed in 10 events in the 65 - 69 years age bracket, achieving a top eight placement in all 10 events at the championships.
Peter told the Courier-Sun he was “looking forward to the next world titles which are to be held in the Netherlands in 2016.”
