Local Dragon Boat Club, the Titivators at Urunga invites community members to their ‘Come and Try’ next Saturday, October 18 from 10am at the Bellinger River Sailing Club, Atherton Drive Urunga.
The Urunga- based club, well-known for its sense of fun and friendliness, trains three times a week on the Kalang River.
With paddlers aged from 13 to 75 there is a wide range of fitness levels in the club – but the passion for the sport is common to all.
During training sessions 20 paddlers work together to move a 12-metre boat through the water. Coaches instruct on paddling technique and timing whilst the hour long sessions build up the strength and endurance for racing.
With thousands of participants in over 60 countries this unique sport is spreading its magic across the globe.
The day is free – just wear comfy clothes and bring a water bottle, all paddles, boats, instructors and morning tea will be supplied.
