Twenty-four Bellingen High School students attended the recent North Coast CHS Athletics Carnival held in Coffs Harbour. This carnival brings together all the best athletes from 39 schools on the North Coast from Taree in the south to Tweed heads in the north.

The results were outstanding with 14 athletes qualifying to go on to represent North Coast at the NSW CHS Carnival in Sydney on September 4-6.
13 years girls: Jackie Kambere; 3rd 800m, 4th High Jump, Hurdles.
14 years girls: Katie Thorn; 2nd 400m, 3rd Triple jump, 4th long jump. Niamh Hiller-Stanbrook; 3rd 3000m.
15 years girls: Brittany O’Neill; 4th High Jump.
16 years girls: Brie Thomas; 1st triple jump, 2nd high jump; 3rd long jump; 4th shot-put.
13 years boys: Calin Lyttle 3rd 1500m walk. Fred Mitchell; 4th 1500m walk.
14 years boys: Isaac Allman; 2nd high jump. James Van Dam 4th javelin.
15 years boys: Jonah Mitchell; 2nd 1500m.
16 years boys: Jonty Neaves; 1st 800m, triple jump, high jump; 2nd 1500m, long jump.
Andrew Trist: 1st javelin. Ezra Malcisi, 1st 100m, 200m. Jesse Vincent-Ellis; 1st shot put, 3rd javelin. Jack Mitchell; 1st 3000m walk. Kaizin Clapson-Downey; 1st 400m.
17 years boys: Luke Thorn; 1st 200m, 400m; 3rd 800m triple jump.
Relay results. 16 years 4x100m relay first (Andrew Trist, Jonty Neaves, Kaizin Clapson-Downey, Ezra Malcisi)
15 years 4x100m first (Talissa Alford, Katelyn Wolfe, Maia Berry, Katie Thorn)
To top off these results, Luke Thorn and Jonty Neaves were named age champions.
Ezra Malcisi broke two North Coast records: 100m - 11.07 breaking a 20 year old record from 1994; 200m - 22.91 breaking a 31 year old record from 1983.
To put this in real terms this means Ezra is the fastest 16-year-old on the North Coast since records have been kept!
In summary, an awesome performance by these athletes. All the best for the upcoming state carnival.
