Urunga Cricket Club has claimed four grand final victories in what has been a remarkable 2012/13 season.

The club won the under-12 NBJCA championships, the under- 14 CHDJAC championships, the fourth grade division 2 CHDCA championships and fourth grade division 1 CHDCA championships, which were all played at Urunga.
Spokesman Ben Jenks said the teams had definitely improved during the eventful season, which included the under-14s wicketkeeper being taken to hospital with a dislocated finger during the grand final.
“Congratulations to the teams and the coaches this year,” Jenks said. “The teams deserve these successes for all the hard work they have put in all season.”
Jenks said the Division 1 grand final matches were “nail biters” and “a fine team performance from this very young side”.
The under 12s won their grand final against Macksville.
Macksville won the toss but were kept under pressure with the best of the bowlers Will Thomas, Macka Davidson, Cooper Keasley, Rogan Hickey and Brad Hickey.
Victory was in sight when Brendon Hickey and Rogan Hickey hit two early wickets.
When disaster struck with four quick wickets by Macksville, the Kearsley twins saved the day with an over to spare.
The under 14s won their grand final against Macksville. Captain Jonty Neaves won the toss and elected to bat.
Byron Auld and Jonty proved the backbone of the innings, supported by Ben Radford and Alex Hickey.
The team was thankful for Locky Auld’s help after the wicketkeeper was taken to hospital with a dislocated finger.
Fourth grade division 2 won their game against Sawtell. Ben Welsh and Thomas McMullen were the first to field and they took early wickets.
Skipper Nick Hopper, Grant Lewis and Tony Mitton polished off the tail, bowling Sawtell out for 85. Sawtell had a sniff of victory with 20 runs needed but only four wickets left.
Thomas McMullen and Ben Radford then survived some tense moments to guide us home.
Fourth grade division 1 won their grand final against the Diggers.
Urunga fielded first and steadily took early wickets bowling Diggers out for 101. Mark Davidson and Gavin Hickey were steady before they both departed.
Macca got a good one early that brought the game into balance.
Jaxen Heward was brilliantly caught at short mid wicket, but the father-son combo of Michael and Andrew Trist, with support from Mick Harry, had Urunga ready to celebrate.
Aaron Hickey strode to the wicket and with help from good friend Sam Harry they got the runs.
