A large crowd of over 150 residents from across the region braved the rain to attend the Emergency Town Meeting called by the Bellingen Environment Centre and the Gumbaynggirr Conservation Group to discuss the proposed loss of 657 hectares of native forest containing prime koala habitat at Newry Forest. The area to be logged is on steep terrain and will cause massive erosion from dispersive soils.
