The activities, in the form of mini competitions, vary from poultry to art and from colouring in to farm waste.
They are designed to reflect aspects of a country show, especially Dorrigo.
"We aim to maintain local interest through participation in skills and activities which would normally draw hundreds of entries to the many sections of Dorrigo Show," Society President Sally Duckett said.
"National Ag. Day, as it is known, is about recognising and celebrating what agriculture provides to Australia and the people who live here."
Some of the competitions include:
- A photography competition for adults, high and primary school students with a total of 12 areas of farm life on which to focus. Entries close November 14
- Floral Art with 14 sections for people of all ages. Entries close November 14
- Colouring In, open to adults and young people; entries close November 14
- The Best Scarecrow, entries close December 3
- Handicrafts, with entries closing on December 4 and offering sections varying from gum boots to Christmas trees
- Other sections include: poultry, fresh produce, farm waste to art and needlework. There will also be a vintage tractor / car display on the day.
- Cool, Calm Livestock Management Clinic held November 28
- Modern High Tea will be held 6 December; bookings should be made early for a fun filled day, with a guest speaker and antique assessor
A full list of sections, guidelines, entry forms and conditions are available on Face book and the society's website, at https://www.dorrigoshow.com/news
Participation is open to all society members and their families.
Entries will be displayed in the windows of Dorrigo shops and businesses.
The society is also conducting a Mini Art Union Raffle with tickets available at shops in the central business area and an Ag Lime Auction to be held on November 18 at the Dorrigo Cattle Sales.
Sally Duckett thanked people and businesses who have become paid up members for 2020 and also the sponsors who have supported the above sections and promised further activities later in the year.
