"Although it's been a challenging year with our sites impacted by the bushfires and the ongoing impact of the pandemic on recreation facility operations, we are reopening stronger than ever at Bellingen and Dorrigo on Saturday, September 26 with an increased focus on creating events and programs that bring families together at the pool," Y NSW Cluster Manager Melissa Morgan said.
"The Y has been a core part of the Coffs Coast community since 2013 and are looking forward to some exciting upgrades and changes for the community including an upgrade of the kiosk at Bellingen. We're also exploring introducing fitness classes on the grassed area at Dorrigo to further increase the accessibility of wellness to the community."
Bellingen Shire Council Mayor, Cr Dominic King said the partnership was delivering for the community.
"This has been a great partnership with the YMCA and community feedback has been very positive around the job they do managing our pools, which prove year after year to be one of our shire's most popular community facilities," he said.
Bellingen Swim Centre and Dorrigo Swim Centre offer aquatics activities and swimming lessons for children and adults of all abilities. Both pools will reopen for the season on Saturday, September 26.
Due to the government's COVID-19 restrictions, the Y has implemented an online booking system. Members will not need to book for lap swimming, but non-members will need to book online for aqua classes, lap swimming and pool entry.
What measures are the Y putting in place to protect customers and staff?
We are taking all possible steps to keep our staff and customers safe whilst in our centres. These include:
- Sneeze screens at cashier points
- Social distancing markers at queuing areas
- Signage and notices for customers in prominent locations throughout the centre
- Encouragement of contactless pay
- Hand sanitiser at the entry and key points throughout the centre
- Increased cleaning schedules
- Meeting physical distancing requirements
- Adhering to maximum numbers allowed in each space
- Maintaining a register of all people on site
- We request if you are unwell you do not attend the centre.
