However, in light of the ongoing pandemic situation, and after careful consideration, the organisers have made the difficult decision to postpone Camp Creative until January 10-14, 2022.
"We know this will come as a disappointment, not only to our Campers, but our tutors, our camp team and the Bellingen community," the organisers said.
"January 2021 seems a long way away, but there is currently no certainty about when gathering together in large groups will be safe again.
"Our priority is the health and well-being of everyone involved with the camp. We can't risk the possibility of an outbreak of the virus at the camp.
"There are so many factors that increase the risks - particularly for our campers aged over 60, as well as those who will be travelling from all over the country to Bellingen.
"Trying to maintain social distancing in classrooms would mean a much smaller camp - and the loss of the special creative community experience.
"We have also considered the long-term well-being of the camp. We are a small community not-for-profit led by a volunteer committee. To go ahead with the camp and then have to cancel due to a second outbreak, would be a huge cost to the camp. We aren't in a position to take that financial risk.
"This decision by our committee hasn't been an easy one and we are all feeling great sadness at this postponement.
"We will keep campers updated on new courses and key dates via email. The next Camp Creative will be its 35th. We will work hard to make it a special one for you all."
