The play is set in 1960's London. Brindsley (Nathan Garnett) a poor artist and his upper class fiance Carol (Lisa Rogers) are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Bamberger (Peter Carter), a wealthy art collector who they are hoping will buy some of Brindsley's sculptures and give his artistic reputation a much needed boost.
Also expected any minute is Carol's ex military father Colonel Melkett (Peter Nunn) coming to meet Brindsley for the first time and hopefully give his approval to the proposed marriage of his only daughter to a penniless artist.
So eager to impress their guests the couple decide to "borrow" precious antique furniture from next door neighbour, Harold Gorringe |(Andrew Paul) who is away for the weekend.
Minutes before their guests are due to arrive, there is a black out and chaos ensues with Miss Furnival from upstairs (Ruth Carter), ex-girlfriend Clea (Marni Van Riel) and London Electricity Board employee Shuppanzigh (Rupert Frosch) all thrown into the mix to create the non-stop hilarity that audiences love.
All the elements in this 'Faulty Towers' style comedy are in full force....... calamity, confusion, mistaken identity and mayhem.
Director Lisa Rogers is well known in the Bellingen area for producing top quality productions.
Kalang Theatre Co.'s past shows include 'The Importance of Being Ernest'', 'Queens of the Valley', 'My Fair Lady', and 'The Kalang Rocky Horror Show' all warmly received and delighting the audience.
