* Twelve sites across Australia have been selected to run a National Suicide Prevention Trial for Government, through Primary Health Network.
Bellingen Shire is part of the North Coast NSW trial site and the Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre has received funding for a Suicide Prevention Project Coordinator (Celeste Abell) to deliver the trial locally.
The Project Coordinator's role is guided by LifeSpan, an evidence-based approach to suicide prevention from The Black Dog Institute.
There is also a network of local service providers and specialists who are the steering committee for the project, to ensure it is localised and relevant for Shire residents.
