Based on the TV show 'Dancing with the Stars', the fundraiser pairs local identities with a local dance teacher and will culminate in a special dinner and show held at the Memorial Hall.
The night is fun-focused and more of a variety performance than a dance competition, but there will still be judges and a winning couple.
And in the lead-up to the big night, the stars will be hard at work not only learning their steps and refining their technique, but also raising $3000 each through fundraising and sponsorship.
Most of them have never danced before except at parties, so they will be taking a large (choreographed) leap into the unknown.
Even Michelle Stockton of Camp Creative fame, who admits to having a few ballroom dancing competitions under her belt and loves flying around the floor to a Viennese Waltz, will be well out of her comfort zone.
She's been paired with Michele Warman from All 4 Dance Bellingen, and they'll be performing a tap dancing routine.
"It's scary," Michelle said. "But she's promised not to leave me on the dance floor by myself."
Another local identity who will be frocking up and strutting her stuff is marriage celebrant and Carty & Cox solicitor Linda Dalton, who is doing flamenco dance with Ellen Humphrey.
"My kids prodded me into it," Linda said. "They said it's a good cause, it's good for the town, it'll be fun, and it terrifies you. These are all good reasons for doing it."
Rod Keers from ilovebelloshire, who claims he missed out on joining the Australian Ballet in 1992, will be doing cabaret creative with Mary Bernadette.
Cindy George, owner of RJ's Menz, Boyz & Ladiez, will learn Bollywood Dance with Jennie Fenton and Nadira Perera; Danielle Psaros from the Bellingen Brewery is paired with Tehani Vicario from Rivers Dance Centre; and Neighbourhood Centre volunteer Andrew Stockley will do a contemporary dance with Celeste Abell from Linea Movement Company.
"We're working out a basic theme related to overcoming adversity," Andrew said.
A late starter who was unable to make the launch event on Monday was Benjamin Bryant, from Bryant McKinnon Lawyers, who will do ballroom dance with Debbie Sense.
But Dance teacher Alinta Woulfe from Wolfire Pole is still waiting to be matched with her 'star'.
Anyone out there want to learn pole dancing?
