It's been a wait eight months in the making, and with such a long build-up there was every chance that the main thing wouldn't quite match the hype.
But I guess you don't get to have a 50-year-long musical career without being the epitome of a class act.
And noone we've spoken to could fault the three-hour-long performance of the biggest talent to ever grace a Coffs Harbour stage.
"My wife and mum bought the tickets and I was not keen - not my thing. Left there thinking 'Wow! what a voice and entertainer'," Peter Lee said.
"He was amazing. I took my 7-year-old who saved all his Christmas money and birthday money to put towards it. Was amazing to watch the sheer joy on his face. Elton and his guy play hard. Such a great night," Corinne Wong said.
"Very well organised, on time, and amazing - his band, the drummer's not young anymore but his face was so animated and fingers covered in bandaids. Well worth it and would see it again in a heartbeat," Joy Green said.
After Sir Elton tearfully had to cut short his show in Auckland after a diagnosis of 'walking pneumonia', we were nervous whether he would last the distance. But there were no signs of slowing down, say locals.
"It was a fantastic concert. The venue was great. The man himself looked happy and sang so well putting in a big effort. No sign of him being unwell at all," Mick Tux said.
And it wasn't just Elton and his band that had our locals giving two thumbs up - many had nothing but praise for the organisers of the event which they said was "seamless".
"What an amazing concert!! Elton was unbelievable!! 10 out of 10 for the venue, security and staff!! Not to mention the shuttle bus service - it was totally organised. Thankyou Coffs Harbour we will be back. My 86-year-old mother-in-law (Patricia Redriff who lives in Coffs Harbour) can cross Elton off her bucket list. She had a wonderful time," Rhonda Moran said.
"Went last night and going again tonight. Elton was absolutely amazing! The entire event was seamless. Easy entry, easy to get drinks, food and go to the toilet. Fantastic all round. The organisers have done a wonderful job," Beverley Dyer said.
After such a successful event, hopes are high that more giants of the music industry might consider making a Coffs Harbour stopover on their tour schedule.
