Festival goers will have the opportunity to find out the stories behind the scenes on film shoots and ask filmmakers questions about their films in Q&A sessions after some screenings.
Tomorrow (Wednesday Jan 15), Megan Riakos, director and creator of Dark Whispers Vol. 1, Australia's first all-female directed horror anthology of 10 short films, will be at the Jetty Theatre for the 8:45pm session. The short films star Anthony LaPaglia and Asher Keddie, among others.
On Saturday night at the Bellingen Memorial Hall and Tuesday in Coffs Harbour, Josephine MacKerras, director of French-Australian co-production Alice will attend along with partner and composer of the film, Alex Levy and actor son, Jules Levy MacKerras, to connect with audiences about her SXSW Grand Jury Prize-winning debut feature film about a mother who turns to high-end sex work to make a living after her ex-husband leaves their family with nothing.
Bellingen filmmaker Ryan Walsh will attend his World Premiere screening of his feature documentary debut, Monks of the Sacred Valley, about the plight of three Buddhist monks studying on the Tibetan plateau.
Finally on Sunday, Rodd Rathjen, director of Australian-Thai co-production Buoyancy, will join audiences on Sunday in Bellingen and Monday in Coffs Harbour to discuss his coming-of-age sea-slave thriller.
