A statewide Total Fire Ban was brought in overnight and will be in effect through to midnight on Saturday, due to hot and dry conditions across NSW.
There are difficult and dangerous fire conditions forecast over coming days so residents are urged to be vigilant and if you see a fire (ie. flames or column of smoke) with no firefighters in attendance, report it through 000.
The forecast maximum temperatures for Bellingen are:
- Today 25 degrees
- Tomorrow 35
- Friday 30
- Saturday 36.
Calmer conditions were experienced at the Andersons Creek fire yesterday. Fire activity increased on Monday, with a number of hotspots developing around Bishops Creek, Belbbuca Rd and Cool Creek.
At this stage the fire in the Kalang Valley is bruning within containment lines made up of wet gullies. Plumes of smoke will be visible in multiple places across the fireground.
The local Rural Fire Service Incident Management Team (IMT) is working closely with the Kempsey IMT, who are managing the Carrai East Fire in Upper Taylors Arm and the Thumb Creek area to the south of the Andersons Creek fire.
The Andersons Creek fire is listed as 'being controlled' and has burnt through 12,087 hectares.
