Bishops Creek resident, Mark Graham, said some relatively minor backburning (400-600m line ignition on lower slope) had occurred today.
RFS Mid North Coast manager, Sean McArdle, said crews had been backburning around 10-12 houses in Upper Thora.
"The Darkwood brigade has been preparing 10-12 homes," Mr McArdle said.
"All our work has been protective - no houses have had to be actively defended from the fire."
He said NPWS staff were actively controlling the Water Gum Creek ignition near Griffiths Lookout, which is reportedly a single tree.
Mark said that rain was falling up Thora at the moment.
