The Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, said the NSW Government was investing $1.23 million to deliver new safety upgrades along the road.
"Bellingen Shire Council's expert teams will manage and conduct the works," Mrs Pavey said.
The projects include:
- Widening around 600 metres of Waterfall Way about one kilometre east of Dorrigo, including building new turning lanes either side of the intersection with Dome Road. This project is expected to take about 12 weeks, weather permitting,
- Pavement widening and drainage improvements on a 200m section of Waterfall Way about five kilometres east of Dorrigo, which and is expected to be complete by Friday 13 December, weather permitting.
Works will be carried out between 6am and 6pm on weekdays with additional work between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, if required. No work to be carried out between Friday 20 December and Monday 6 January 2020 due to the Christmas shutdown.
Mrs Pavey said these projects were in addition to the NSW Government's commitment of $50 million to upgrade Waterfall Way through Dorrigo.
"Design and community consultation will begin in the New Year on this large-scale upgrade, which will include more overtaking lanes, road alignment improvements, flood mitigation and widening the median and shoulders of the road," Ms Pavey said.
