The Mid North Coast Beach Volleyball Knockout day was held at the Jetty foreshores on Tuesday October 29 in fine sunny conditions. This version of the game sees teams of only four players on a normal size court with sand making movement more difficult. Due to the soft landing, dives are aplenty and the game is fun, fast and furious.

There were four divisions being contested: 15 years and under boys, 15 years and under girls, Open Boys and Open Girls. Bellingen HS had teams in all four divisions. The competition runs as a knockout and winners on the day progress to the North Coast final to be held in Coffs on November 19.
The Open girls played first and they were up against CHEC (with a few ex-Bello). The girls started slowly but once they got in to it, worked together to take out both sets and win 2-0. Their next game, the zone final was against Coffs Harbour HS who had home ground advantage but despite this was no match for the Bellingen girls who again took the game 2-0.
The 15s boys team had their first match against Orara HS and displayed some class to win 2-0 which put them in the final against Coffs Harbour HS. Just like the Open girls the boys dominated and took the game 2-0.
The Open boys started strongly against CHEC winning the first set. However, the year 10 boys lost concentration losing the second set. It was 1-1 and a hard fought third set went the way of CHEC (the eventual winners) which put the boys out of the competition.
The 15s girls team remained undefeated on the day winning their matches both 2-0. This young team played well together and with all bar one eligible to play in this age division next year the future is bright.
This means out of the four divisions contested the Bellingen HS teams won three and will be playing in the North Coast finals in two weeks. More training on our beach volleyball court!
