There were four divisions, 14 years girls and boys and 16 years girls and boys in a knockout competition.
The 14 years girls played first against Grafton HS, which proved to be a one-sided match with the Bellingen girls dominating from the outset.
They scored a massive 14 goals (Pixie Hill 6, Summer Hogan 3, Tahahni Berger 1, Bonnie Malt 1, Clementine Whiteley1, Indi Brodbeck 1 and Katelyn Whyman 1).
This win put them in to the final against Coffs Harbour HS who had defeated South Grafton HS in the previous round. This game was much closer although the Bellingen girls looked on top scoring twice in the first half before CHHS slotted one in just before half time.
The game was still going in Bellingen's favour with opportunities to score not quite finished.
Then key defender Indi Brodbeck was carried from the court. This lifted the CHHS team and while Indi was off the court they managed to score 2 goals to put them in front.
Indi insisted on returning to the court and things again were back in Bellingen's favour with Summer Hogan equalising the score. Full time was 3-3. The game went in to 5 minutes each way sudden death extra time.
Both teams desperate to score but it was Indi that sealed the deal and the girls were crowned Mid North Coast Champions.
The 16 years girls team were hot!!!
All nine players displayed a standard well above their opposition. The first game was against Toormina who had defeated Grafton HS 9-0.
The Bellingen girls had a bye in their first round so took the court full of energy. They defeated Toormina HS 12-0 (Ashley Sticker 5, Laeli Couper 2, Sophie Boyd 2, Kristin Taylor 2, Aoife Carey 1).
This put them in the final against South Grafton HS who had defeated CHHS 4-0. Again it was a goal fest with the girls scoring another 12 goals( Sophie Boyd 5, Ashley Sticker 5, Laeli Couper 1, Freya Marsland-Murray 1) but this time conceding 2.
A great team effort and well deserved Mid North Coast Champions.
Both girls teams will go on to play the winners of the other three Zones on the North Coast in an attempt to be crowned North Coast Champions.
The 14 years boys started slowly against Grafton HS but started to get their team play together by the end still going down 2-4. Their next game against South Grafton HS saw them really hit form scoring 10 goals to 2.
Although a great team effort Jo Hardinge with 5 goals, Max Cracknell at pivot and Josh Perry in goals stood out as players to watch.
The 16 years boys team had their first game against Toormina HS. This was a hard tussle, however, the boys came out on top winning 6-4.
The next game in the knockout was against South Grafton HS. This game was also close but this time the boys went down 5-8. Coach,
Paul Pomroy, indicated the boys needed to adjust to the longer game format and prize possession in order to achieve improved results.
