Following her election as president (what a champion she is), Gillian Anderson has taken the lead in setting up an organisational structure to ensure the viability of the town's beloved, and longest running, event.
To kick start this process she first called for a full appraisal of the personnel needs of all the different sections from Section Coordinators.
"I documented all that, so we could see those who were continuing to be involved in the organisation of the show ... and then we set about identifying gaps in the plan," Gillian said.
Next a call went out through local and social media for anyone interested in getting involved in organising the event, to help share the heavy work load and allow some time for fun.
"The response was most pleasing, especially when twenty-one people turned up to our first of two planning meetings earlier this month," she said.
This meeting was facilitated by Kerry Pearse from KEMJ Pty Ltd who started by taking the group through the Show's operational structure, a summary of which was displayed around the walls on sheets of butcher's paper.
Then everyone was invited to peruse the existing organisational format, discuss matters relating to key areas and to consider the 'gaps' they might be interested in filling.
At the end of the meeting Gillian and Kerry were pleased to see that most gaps had a name next to them and the Show's operational structure had definitely gained in strength.
But there is always more to do and more people needed to do it, so ....
Leading up to the next planning meeting on November 22, you will see information on media, notice boards and in our shire libraries, showing exactly what gaps we have, all of which are ripe for the filling!
If you are interested in any of these positions, or know anyone who might be, please come to our next planning meeting on Friday, November 22, at 4.00pm in the Luncheon Pavilion at the Showground.
You will be made to feel most welcome.
