The Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre has received funding from the North Coast Primary Health Network to trial LifeSpan, an evidence-based approach to suicide prevention from The Black Dog Institute. LifeSpan combines nine strategies into one community-led approach.

It aims to:
- build a safety net for the community
- connect and coordinate new and existing interventions and programs.
- build capacity to better support people in the community.
The Neighbourhood Centre is holding open forums in Dorrigo, Urunga and Bellingen in November. These meetings are to determine which strategies the community would like to prioritise.
Celeste Abell is a Bellingen local and the new Suicide Prevention Project Coordinator for the Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre.
"Building community resilience can improve health and connectedness within the Shire," she said.
"These forums are a great chance for the community to help us plan real solutions. We need you to tell us what areas to focus on, and which strategies will break isolation and improve wellbeing in our communities."

Dorrigo: Monday, November 4 @ Dorrigo Community Hall, 5.30-7pm.
Urunga: Wednesday, November 6 @ Urunga Neighbourhood Centre, 1- 2:30pm.
Bellingen: Thursday, November 7 @ Bellingen Citizens Centre, 5:30-7pm,
