The course runs for six Saturdays from 10:30am to 2pm on the Bellinger and Kalang Rivers at Urunga; the perfect environment to safely learn how to sail small boats.
An Australian Sailing (AS) 'Discover Sailing' Training Centre, The Urunga Sail Training Club has had programs for people of all ages and all abilities since teaching began on the Mid North Coast nine years ago.
Instructors have diverse sailing experience having sailed in many boats both large and small and are able to easily adapt to the needs and abilities of our students, sharing their knowledge and passion of sailing to help you learn safely and confidently.
You will learn how to skipper and crew a sailing dinghy, basic sailing manoeuvers, understand the language of sailing, rigging, safe launch and retrieval, capsize recovery drills, reading tide and weather conditions and so much more. For beginners and anyone wanting to brush up on their sailing skills - so no experience is necessary.
Sailing is a wonderful sport for all ages and kids from Year 3 and up - it encourages both mental and physical ability and promotes a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle. Apart from basic sailing skills our sailing lessons teach many valuable life lessons like decision making, resilience, leadership, teamwork and communication in a fun and healthy environment.
The USTC also have social sailing days so you can use your new sailing skills, and members can use the club boats when they aren't being used for lessons.
Course fees and membership fees do not cover the cost of keeping the doors open for this club. The USTC does not charge exorbitant course or membership fees because we believe in making sailing available to everyone so contact us for more information.
Book a space on the new course and begin your sailing journey today. Active kids vouchers are also accepted.
