Shelley Lowe, the 2019 International Women's Day Coffs Coast Woman of the Year, is bringing her 'UcanDO' class to an airconditioned pavilion at the Bellingen Showground.
Pamela Whitehead is one of a handful of Bellingen women who have been driving to Urunga for the classes.
"I've been lobbying her [to bring them here] because a few of us go down from Bellingen," she said.
Asked what she liked about the classes, Pamela said the fact that they have made her stronger.
"I have not had a sore back since I started doing the classes. It strengthens your core and limbs - it's just great.
"It's not cardio, it's really strengthening. It's anti-osteoporosis and anti-fall. But if you do it to the best of your ability it's a really hard workout, but it's not jarring. There's no jumping around."
Shelley described the 'UcanDO' classes as gentle strengthening, suitable for older people or those recovering from operations or injuries.
After a ten-minute warm-up, people do a variety of exercises using small weights.
Half of the exercises are done standing and the other half sitting on a chair; none involve getting down onto the floor.
"The chair is as low as you'll go," Shelley said.
Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays in the main pavilion at Bellingen Showground off Black St.
They run from 1.30pm-2.30pm and cost $10.
