And so is David. He says he is very excited to be performing again in his home town
In particular he is delighted that two 'graduates' of Bellingen's fine Youth Orchestra who are now rising star professional musicians will be performing in the same concert, alongside him and solo.
Flautist Suzanne Sherrington graduated with first class honours from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2012 and then a doctorate in 2018 and has performed with many famous orchestras.
Lachlan Wilkins is studying violin at the Queensland Conservatorium and has played with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra through the violin internship program and with Ensemble Q.
"I performed with these talented musicians when they were younger," David said, "and I have closely followed their careers and I consider them both to be musicians of great sensitivity and talent."
David will perform Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky and just like 10 years ago when the festival was first launched, he and Lachlan will perform together, playing the beautiful theme from Steven Spielberg's classic film 'Schindler's List', composed by John Williams for Itzhak Perlman.
Suzanne and Lachlan will have solo performances in the first half of the concert, each accompanied by pianist Alice Jamison with pieces by Saint-Saens, Paradis and Widor. Together, the three will perform the 1st movement of Bach's wonderful Concerto for 2 Violins in D Minor.
This is just one of the many events at the Bellingen Fine Music Festival. Tickets are selling fast. Details and tickets at bellingenmusicfestival.com.au. Children 12 and under are free.
