The event at Briggsvale Rd Megan will start at 11.30am with a barbecue sponsored by 2Air FM Coffs Harbour's Easy Listening Country Music radio station.
It was 12 months ago that we celebrated the 100th birthday of Dorrigo's adopted son Buddy WIlliams with a concert and the laying of a plaque in his memory.
This year we're going back in time to again remember Buddy's contribution to the Australia's country music industry. We will recall that he busked his way down the NSW coast and on September 7, 1939 Buddy turned up on the doorstep of EMI and made his first recording called "They Call Me the Ramblin' Yodeller"... and the rest is history.
So, 80 years later you can relive that excitement by hearing his music as it was played then, on a gramophone, or hear it sung by many, who hold Buddy in high regard as a music legend and as a friend, during our musical celebrations.
Country music artist Marcia Armfield from Wauchope, Lou Weeding from Tassie and Kylie Adam-Collier from Thora along with Alan Christiansen from Junction Hill, Grafton will delight you.
Other local musicians will help fill the Megan air with music as we make history come alive. Many may not know but Buddy Williams starred in the movie He chased the Chicken'. During afternoon tea you will be enchanted by Buddy's acting ability ...
Dinner is 'Pot Luck' which means you bring something to contribute to the table for all to share. (There is a fridge for perishables and a microwave for reheating).
And the music will continue to flow as we make history with a surprise that will delight the audience.
Mark the date in your diary or on your calendar and plan on being at Megan on September 8 and walk where Buddy Williams once trod ... and be entertained.
The Don Dorrigo And Guy Fawkes Historical Society is proud to celebrate with the History Council of NSW during History Week 2019.
