The story of the Battle of Long Tan was re-told, wreaths and flowers laid in memory of the 521 soldiers, sailors, airmen and civilians who died during the war, the 3129 wounded, all who served and those who still carry the impact of hostilities.
August 18 is dedicated as Vietnam Veteran's Day marking 10 years of active service, 1962-72.
Senior members of Dorrigo Sub Branch of the RSL of Australia, Bob Denner and Barry Thatcher, reflected on Australia's commitment to the Vietnam conflict and the effects this had on the men and women who served there.
Wreaths and floral tributes were laid at the Monument by ex-service personnel and friends and families of Vietnam veterans.
