The Coffs team put in a creditable performance, posting three wins and three losses over the three-day tournament.
Representing the Bellingen Brewers in the squad were Cooper and Hunter Bake-Smith, Nik Doves and Neil Davies.
The Brewers have been struggling for numbers for much of the season. Two absences in recent weeks have been Mick Nelson and Cam Rutherford, who have been holidaying in the US.
While there, both took in major league games on opposite coasts: Rutherford saw the New York Mets take on the San Diego Padres at Citi Field in New York, while Nelson saw the San Francisco Giants take on the Mets at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
The World Is a Small Place Department: while at Oracle Park, Nelson ran into former Brewer Joel Northcott. He claims that this was a totally unexpected coincidence.
Another cause for player absences was a three-day Level 3 coaching course the weekend before last conducted in Coffs Harbour by Baseball NSW.
Four Brewers completed the course. Once all of the "i's" are dotted and "t's" are crossed, Bellingen's new Level 3 qualified coaches will be Paul Holding, Jon Lowe, David Jeremy and Nik Doves.
The weekend prior, Jeremy was in Sydney, where he completed an umpiring refresher course.
The Brewers have been on a roll of late. They have a seven-game win streak in B grade and have won three of their last four in A grade. Bellingen will look to continue their winning ways against the Woolgoolga Bluesox on Saturday.
Following this Saturday's games, players and their families will convene at the venue of the club's major sponsor, the Bellingen Brewery, for a "Beer and Pizza" night.
Anyone interested in playing baseball or just mixing with the team is welcome to join us.
