The Bill Turner Trophy is a knockout school soccer competition for girls aged 15 and under, which has been running for 29 years.
Three goals scored, by their opposition, tells only part of the story.
Not converting their chances cost Bellingen the opportunity to challenge Oxley for a place in next month's round of 16 in Coffs Harbour.
But there is next year, said team captain Sophie Boyd.
"I think we played really, really well," Sophie told Prime7 news.
"We are a really young team, the opportunities we did have we could have used them better.
"Very young team, year seven and eights."
Sophie was the only Year 10 student in the team and will continue with the Open side next year.
Coach Liz Hoy, a longtime stalwart of the Bill Turner competitions, will regroup with her young and talented squad and move forward.
"I don't think our finishing was good enough today," she said.
"I feel they (Oxley) controlled the ball very well through the midfield."
Oxley High School scored three goals (Emma Allen 6m, 36m; Lily Parsons 8m) to beat Bellingen High School 0 at Scully Park, Tamworth.
