The musicians rehearse every Thursday afternoon under the baton of Anne Phelan.
One of the highlights of this concert will be Noam Blat performing 'Avinu Malkeinu' from Compassion by Nigel Westlake. Also on the playlist is the 'Polovtsian Dances' by Borodin.
Borodin had a superb gift for melody and rhythm, evident in this, the most popular of his works.
The Festive Overture by Shostakovich is also a feature. This overture, based on Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmilla (1842), was completed in just three days.
The style reflects Shostakovich but the piece as a whole uses very conventional classical devices of form and harmony.
The concert is on Saturday June 29 at the Bellingen Memorial Hall at 2pm and 7pm.
Tickets for this must see concert are available from the Bellingen Information Centre or at www.eventbrite.com.au
