Bellingen High School took on The Rivers College in the final of the North Coast CHS Knockout competition - and won.

The Rivers College is made up of three campuses Kadina High School, Richmond River High School and Lismore High School, which means they select players from a pool of three high schools ... they were however no match for the girls from Bellingen.
The Bellingen girls started strongly passing the ball around to create opportunities. After about 10 minutes it was Willow Neal who found herself in space and made no mistake with a great finish. The Rivers came back quickly after a couple of defensive lapses and converted to make it 1:1 about a minute later.
From then on Bellingen dominated, setting up opportunities with great passing only to see the ball just miss at far post. Emily Ruming then stepped up for a free kick about 25 metres out from the goal. She struck the ball low and hard and sent the ball skidding past the keeper to bring the score to 2:1.
Willow Neal continued to make incisive runs and scored a second goal before half time. The half time score was 3:1 and the girls looked strong.
During the second half the girls continued to work the ball, coming away with two more goals, one more to Willow to give her the hat trick and another good one by Jessica Bailey. Final score 5:1.
It was a dominant display and reflected the ability of the team to work well together ... it was inspiring to watch. They are now in the final 16 teams in the state!
Their next game will be against Cheltenham Girls High School and will be played at Connell Park at 10am on Tuesday, July 2.
