They scored a comfortable 87 points to defeat their nearest rivals, Jan Slater, Yvonne Schmidt and Penny Russell (Park Beach 79 points), Monica Parker, Bev Owen, Sandra Youlten (Maclean 78 points), Judy Monks, Elaine Tindall, Jenni Flynn (Sawtell 75 points) and Carol Gatehouse, Elizabeth Baillie, Lynette Scarlett (North Beach 75 points). Heavily overcast skies threatened the continuation of the carnival on the Saturday but the 30 teams from as far north as Maclean, as far south as Lake Cargelligo and west to Guyra and Armidale persevered and Sunday dawned an early winter's perfect day ensuring one of the most successful carnivals in its 29 year history.
Women's President Jo Bathgate thanked the greenkeepers who had presented the greens in top class condition, the Club Urunga staff, all the workers behind the scenes and particularly Secretary Lynne Tarrant, Chairman of Match Helen Hoffman and Chair of Social and Controlling Body for the carnival Noela McCabe and Umpire Jean Dew.
