The team squad of 15 is selected from all 39 high schools and Central Schools on the North Coast. It is a great honour to make this team and four from the one school is unheard of.
The championships were held in very difficult conditions of high winds, rain and freezing temperatures. This did not deter Willow Neal, Ashley Sticker, Emily Ruming and Sophie Boyd who all performed at an excellent standard throughout the tournament and helped North Coast finish a credible eighth position - the best result in recent years.
Sophie Boyd, 15, was then selected as NSW CHS shadow reserve. The competition includes girls up to 19 years of age so this was a real achievement. Also Sophie was voted as most valuable player in her team. Sophie is definitely a young star from whom many players can learn a lot. Her work-rate is second to none and her ability to control and distribute the ball is a pleasure to watch.
