A new initiative from the Bellingen Community Arts Council and Mixed Up Arts is aiming to increase the involvement of local young people in the arts.

The Artlink Program is focused on linking young people 16-24 years with mature-aged community members to develop an intergenerational approach to both visual and performing arts.
The program will commence during the July school holidays and continue through the third term, with twice-weekly workshops and studio sessions to develop strong creative skills in areas such as drawing, printmaking, stagecraft, music and dance.
Program coordinator Julie Hutchinson said the program has a wide scope.
"Artlink is particularly suitable for people who have creative energy but who might not otherwise have been involved in the arts. We're especially keen to have people who have something to say and want a chance to say it through the arts.
"The tutors we are engaging in the program are all experienced in their fields, with high-level expertise that will equip people doing the workshops with skills to advance further in the arts field should they want to do so."
The Artlink Program is jointly funded by the Australian government's Regional Arts Fund and Regional Arts NSW, with the support of Bellingen Community Arts Council through Mixed Up Arts. A small materials fee will be charged with concession for low income earners.
